Head of Year

Support Staff Salary:        Grade 7 (SCP 20 -255) 

Salary:                                 £ 23,347pa  Actual salary based on working 41 weeks per year 

Hours:                                 37 hrs per week/ term time + 3 weeks

(8.00am start. Some flexibility and evening work may be required)  

Our behaviour team consists of three Pastoral Managers, and six Head of Years. These roles are pivotal in upholding and modelling the highest standards of behaviour and expectations to the school community, promoting consistent positive normative experiences across the school on a day to day basis: ‘sweating out the small stuff’ by maintaining the rules, routines, structures, processes and systems. The Head of Year  role in school will be a challenging one and will demand a heavy investment of energy, consistency and commitment to reboot behaviour and expectations across the school daily. As a Head of Year you will work closely with the Pastoral Manager to drive behaviour, culture and standards in line with the ‘warm strict’ strategy across the school.  

The successful candidate will be enthusiastic, committed and driven in their approach: a role model of the highest standards with the ability to be unwavering with boundaries to support teaching staff and students.  This role demands a high level of emotional intelligence and the ability to communicate effectively to a range of stakeholders and celebrate the weekly and daily successes of positive achievements. The role requires absolute consistency in approach; strong emotional resilience and self-regulation as well as, high levels of communication both written and verbal. The candidate should also be able to demonstrate a track record of credible impact in their current position. This is not an office based job  - you will be highly visible and proactive across the school for the majority of time, supporting the climate of learning in classrooms; checking consistency; being proactive to alleviate problems before they emerge and whilst doing so spotting emerging issues and liaising with the Pastoral Managers to further enhance pastoral provision for students.
