St. Mary’s Catholic High School is committed to:

  • Provide practical help to prevent people from being drawn into terrorism and ensure they are given appropriate advice and support
  • Work with a wide range of sectors where there are risks of radicalisation which needs to be addressed including education, criminal justice, faith, charities, the internet and health

All schools are required to teach a broad and balanced curriculum which promotes the spiritual, moral and cultural development of students and prepares them for the opportunities, responsibilities and experiences of life.

The purpose of our Prevent Strategy is to protect students from harm and to ensure they are taught in a way that is consistent with the law and British Values.  We aim to:

  • Evaluations (40) indicate training was highly informative with all more confident and knowledgeable afterwards on Prevent. One potential referral since training which shows impact.

 

  • Signs to look for in teenagers came out as an AFI.  This was delivered in Oct 2015 but the next CPD will include this and an online 25 min module on Chanel where all staff will receive a certificate on completion.

 

  • Assemblies on British Values and Prevent delivered to all year groups 7-13. Form time activities given to consolidate assemblies.
